Process

For reference, I’ll need one main reference photo from you to reproduce. This will be the one with your favorite pose or favorite look. The best photos are clear, close, and high resolution – the clarity of the photo will determine the level of detail in my work. If you're able to take the photos with a camera rather than your phone, that is preferred. Photos taken at eye level will have the best facial proportions.

If you have other clear photos of the subject, please send them along as well – these will help me to clarify details that may be less clear in the primary photo. Knowing the breed also helps, so I can find reference photos online if I get stuck.

Once you send me your photos and preferred size/medium for your commissioned piece, I will determine a final price. I’ll request a down payment of 1/3 of the final price before beginning, and send along an agreement for you to look over to be sure we’re on the same page. Once that’s read and the deposit is made, the work begins! Please note that as the artist, I reserve all copyrights and reproduction rights to all commissioned works, including preliminary sketches.

I will post photos on Facebook and Instagram as I go, so you can see (and share) my progress on your piece. If you need me to keep photos off of social media for a surprise, let me know that too.

When I finish, you'll have the option to order prints, notecards, pendants, or other items featuring the artwork - you'll receive a wholesale rate on these items at the time of your order. Your portrait will be sent with a certificate of authenticity.
